The Livingston County R-III School Board met on Tuesday, February 14th in a regular session meeting. The board discussed several bills in legislation and opted to sign a resolution opposing open enrollment. The Livingston County Board of Education encourages all Chula patrons to contact your local Senator Rusty Black to discuss the harm open enrollment can cause to our small rural school district.
The Livingston County Board of Education also approved the LEAP Program (Learning & Activities Enrichment Program )for gifted students and program screening, testing and identification process documents. Mrs. Melissa Young will serve as the program coordinator and teacher. Students who qualify for the program will meet once a week . The LEAP Program is an intervention that meets the needs of identified gifted students through an accelerated and appropriate curriculum.
The Board approved the hire of Mr. Bart Reeter for custodial/maintenance and Ms. Karissa Bryson for kitchen/preschool aide. And also extended the contract of Mrs. Melissa Young as administrator for the 2023-2024 school year!
